Associate Director, Commercial AI Product Owner

Bristol Myers Squibb•Princeton, NJ

About The Position

The Associate Director, Commercial AI Product Owner will lead the transformation of commercial business processes and knowledge into forms that enterprise AI can understand and use. The role owns unstructured content and its relationships in the knowledge and context layer, helping AI deliver more grounded, accurate, and context-aware commercial decision support. In collaboration with brand, IT, and commercial analytics teams, the role advances AI from descriptive analysis toward diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive capabilities using context engineering and machine-learning-driven solutions. The position translates the Commercial AI, Analytics & Insights product team's vision and roadmap into business and technical requirements, actionable tasks, milestones, and outcomes. It develops and maintains knowledge assets and their relationships, works with brand teams and product pods to improve the context layer, and supports machine-learning operations and AI performance evaluation. The role also defines user acceptance testing and performance measures, collaborates with offshore operations, and supports responsible AI governance in partnership with Data Governance, Legal, and Privacy. Expected outcomes include releases that meet business acceptance criteria and fit brand workflows; reusable context-layer capabilities used across brands and AI products; measurable context-layer usage and quality; a prioritized context-engineering backlog aligned to the product roadmap; a discoverable, well-documented ML model catalog; and measurable, release-over-release improvements in AI output quality.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the Commercial AI, Analytics & Insights product team's vision and roadmap into business and technical requirements, actionable tasks, milestones, and clear outcomes.
  • Translate business knowledge into the context layer by generating and connecting unstructured content as knowledge assets, building relationships using a graph database, and managing knowledge assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensure AI product skills have appropriate guidance for connecting to the knowledge graph and that the graph is used across key AI products and brands.
  • Work with brand teams on initial knowledge-graph development, then collaborate with brand pods and the enablement team to improve the knowledge layer after deployment.
  • Implement an appropriate ML framework in the AI product and work with IT to monitor ML performance and CAAI analytics leads to improve it.

  • Define UAT scope and context test cases using the golden Q&A set and resolve context-layer defects.
  • Track and report context-layer usage and quality signals as performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Offshore Sr. Manager and AOI Ops to validate the knowledge and context layer and incorporate feedback from operations roles.
  • Partner with Data Governance, Legal, and Privacy on privacy, explainability, and human-in-the-loop checks for knowledge and context content.
