About The Position

The Associate Director, Commercial AI Product Owner leads the transformation of commercial business processes into forms that AI can understand and act on, ensuring that brand and commercial workflows feed into Bristol Myers Squibb’s enterprise AI solutions. The role owns unstructured content and its relationships in the next-generation knowledge and context layer, helping make AI more grounded, accurate, and context-aware in commercial decision-making. Working closely with brand, IT, and commercial analytics teams, the role advances AI from descriptive analysis toward diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive capabilities using business context and machine-learning-driven solutions. It translates the Commercial AI, Analytics & Insights product team’s vision and roadmap into business and technical requirements, actionable tasks, milestones, and outcomes. The role develops and manages knowledge and context assets, supports machine-learning operations and AI performance evaluation, defines business acceptance and UAT, tracks context-layer performance, and partners with governance stakeholders to support privacy, explainability, and human oversight. It also collaborates with offshore operations teams and brand teams to improve the context layer over time.

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical commercial analytics/decision science or software development.
  • At least 2 years building or supporting an analytics or AI product or platform.
  • Hands-on experience with graph databases such as Neo4j and Amazon Neptune.
  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining enterprise knowledge graphs, semantic models, ontologies, taxonomies, business vocabulary, and metadata services.
  • Hands-on experience with AI product development topics such as LLMs, RAG, semantic and context layers, prompt or agent configuration, and sub-agent orchestration.
  • Experience developing end-to-end machine-learning and simulation-type advanced analytics algorithms, such as tree-based models and marketing mix modeling.
  • Experience designing and operating AI output evaluation frameworks, including golden Q&A sets with held-out test data, metric-based scoring, LLM-as-judge methods, and regression testing across releases.
  • Strong foundation in AI governance, including risk management, security, privacy, model monitoring, and human-in-the-loop practices in regulated environments; understanding of HIPAA, GDPR/CCPA, and related regulatory standards.
  • Ability to translate unstructured business and domain knowledge, including documents, playbooks, brand content, and expert know-how, into reusable semantic models such as ontologies, taxonomies, and knowledge graphs.
  • Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to lead without direct authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical data, including claims, APLD, specialty pharmacy, digital signals, and promotional data.
  • Familiarity with commercial tools and methods such as Veeva, omnichannel metrics, multi-touch attribution, and next-best-action frameworks.
  • UX research or design experience for analytics or digital products.

Responsibilities

  • Translate the Commercial AI, Analytics & Insights product team’s vision and roadmap into business and technical requirements, actionable tasks, milestones, and clear outcomes.
  • Translate business knowledge into the context layer by creating and connecting unstructured content as knowledge assets, building relationships, using graph databases, and managing enterprise knowledge-asset lifecycles.
  • Ensure skills have appropriate guidance to connect to the knowledge graph and that the graph is used in key AI products across brands.
  • Work with brand teams to develop the knowledge graph in the context layer brand by brand; after deployment, work with brand pods and the enablement team to improve the knowledge layer in the AI product backend.
  • Implement appropriate machine-learning frameworks in the AI product and work with IT to monitor ML performance and CAAI analytics leads to improve it.
  • Design, build, and maintain a golden Q&A evaluation framework for continuous AI performance monitoring, using a held-out test set and evaluating structured and unstructured outputs against defined metrics and thresholds.
  • Define UAT test scope and context test cases using the golden Q&A set, and resolve context-layer defects.
  • Track context-layer usage and quality signals and provide them as performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Offshore Senior Manager and AOI Ops on knowledge and context-layer validation and the feedback loop from operations roles.
  • Partner with Data Governance, Legal, and Privacy on privacy, explainability, and human-in-the-loop checks for knowledge and context content.
  • Support the AI product team in maintaining governance forums and technical controls.
  • Deliver releases that meet business acceptance criteria, fit brand workflows, and provide working context-layer capabilities aligned with the roadmap.
  • Build a context-engineering backlog from brand feedback and align it with the CAAI product team roadmap and guidance.
  • Support a well-architected ML model catalog with standardized metadata, versioning, lineage, and performance documentation so the AI product can discover and invoke models programmatically.
  • Measure and improve AI output quality release over release using a held-out golden Q&A benchmark for accuracy, groundedness, faithfulness, and relevance.
