About The Position

The Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS) is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Clinical Services. This role is part of the IIHHS Leadership Team, contributing to the overall operations and direction of the Institute. The Associate Director will oversee and facilitate the operations of nine clinics within the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS). Key responsibilities include supervising staff in the Clinical Billing office, the Child Development Clinic Director, and collaborating with Academic Unit Heads to support clinic directors in administrative and management aspects. The Associate Director reports to the Director of IIHHS and provides fiscal and administrative support. IIHHS, founded in 2003, is a community-engaged center focused on learning, scholarship, and mutual support between James Madison University and the surrounding community. It comprises 16 community-engaged programs and nine clinics within CHBS, aiming to build healthier and safer communities.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, or a health-related field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a collaborative leader for IIHHS and IIHHS Clinical Services.
  • Meet weekly with the IIHHS Director and attend/participate in IIHHS Leadership Team meetings.
  • Provide leadership for IIHHS Clinical Services infrastructure, staffing, clinical operations, and policy matters.
  • Convene a monthly Clinical Services meeting with all Clinic Directors and Clinical Billing staff.
  • Supervise Billing Specialists, Billing Coordinator, and program support positions.
  • Supervise the CDC Director, meet monthly with the CDC Director, and attend clinic staff meetings as available.
  • Facilitate the transition to and ongoing management of Medicat, the Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Attend monthly clinic budget meetings to ensure clear communication and processes between clinic directors and billing/budgeting staff.
  • Meet with Clinic Directors monthly and with relevant Academic Unit Heads as needed.
  • Prepare Clinic infrastructure contribution agreements and discuss them with Clinic Directors.
  • Prepare the annual MOU for Suitcase Clinic between IIHHS and the relevant academic department.
  • Facilitate the annual completion of the Clinic Checklist for each clinic to ensure documentation is current and complete.
  • Maintain and update the clinical services website, clinical services Canvas site, and platforms for shared documents and data.
  • Facilitate shared infrastructure for all clinics, including clinic space, medical records management, HIPAA training, panic alarm systems, VALT system, off-site medical record storage, infection control policies, the foundational Clinical Services Policy and Procedure Manual, and shared Canvas platforms.
  • Facilitate the development of new clinics that offer student training opportunities and needed community services, typically initiated by faculty with AUH consent.
  • Prepare the annual report for clinical services, which will be incorporated into the IIHHS Annual Report.
  • Facilitate data gathering requests from all clinics, such as the annual risk management malpractice coverage assessment.
  • Collaborate with JMU Legal Services on regulatory and legal concerns related to clinical services.
  • Represent clinical services in initiatives and task groups supporting all clinics, such as planning for HBS 2.
  • Facilitate the use and needs of clinic spaces, including The Health Place, and monitor panic alarms and annual alarm checks.
  • Promote and foster a culture of care and belonging for all workplace community members.
  • Participate in the University HIPAA Committee.
