Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine Purpose: As Associate Director, AI Marketing Enablement, you will not only scale the adoption of AI-powered marketing capabilities, but you will also help define how marketers work in the future. You will partner directly with brand teams to activate and operationalize the enterprise AI marketing roadmap, translating emerging capabilities into real-world impact. You will serve as the dedicated enablement lead for a specific therapeutic area (e.g., IMM, ONC, NS), driving how AI marketing capabilities are adopted and applied across its brands. You will act as a bridge between innovation and execution - bringing new ideas to life, challenging the status quo, and continuously pushing teams to rethink how work gets done. This role requires curiosity, experimentation, and a bias for action in a fast-evolving space. Success in this role requires strong strategic thinking, influence without authority, and a passion for learning and applying new technologies. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating ambiguity, testing and iterating, and driving measurable impact in a highly regulated environment. This position will report to the Director, AI Marketing Innovation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum of 7-8+ years of experience in marketing, digital marketing, marketing operations, or commercialization within pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industries
  • Demonstrated experience operationalizing marketing capabilities or technologies within brand teams or business units
  • Strong understanding of marketing workflows, content lifecycle, and campaign execution in a regulated environment
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous business needs into practical, scalable solutions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with marketing, medical/legal/regulatory (MLR), IT, and external partners
  • Demonstrated curiosity and self-driven learning in emerging technologies, AI, or digital capabilities
  • Ability to influence without authority and build strong, trust-based relationships across a matrixed organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to measure adoption and inform decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, actionable guidance for marketers

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience supporting or enabling marketing technology, digital transformation, or AI-driven initiatives
  • Familiarity with content supply chain, MLR processes, and approval workflows
  • Experience working with or managing external vendors, agencies, or technology partners
  • Strong understanding of marketing platforms and tools (e.g., Workfront, Adobe DAM, Figma, Veeva)
  • Experience experimenting with or applying generative AI tools in marketing, content creation, or workflows
  • Demonstrated success driving change management and adoption at the team or business unit level
  • Experience contributing to pilot programs, capability rollouts, or scaled deployments
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategic design and direction of AI marketing capabilities within a specific therapeutic area
  • Define how capabilities should be applied across brands, establishing scalable models, standards, and best practices
  • Guide enablement and adoption by partnering with brand teams, ensuring capabilities are effectively integrated into workflows without direct execution
  • Champion adoption by demonstrating clear business value and challenging traditional ways of working
  • Identify, prioritize, and scale high-impact use cases that advance how AI is applied in marketing
  • Continuously evolve capabilities and approaches using a test-and-learn mindset
  • Monitor adoption and performance trends to identify gaps, remove barriers, and inform optimization
  • Translate insights into clear, strategic recommendations that drive measurable impact at scale
  • Shape how AI capabilities are applied within the therapeutic area by identifying high-impact opportunities and challenging the status quo
  • Stay continuously up to date on the rapidly evolving AI landscape, serving as a subject matter expert on best-in-class GenAI/AI marketing capabilities
  • Bring forward emerging trends, tools, and innovations to evolve how marketing operates
  • Partner with leadership, TA stakeholders, other enablement leads, and product teams to prioritize and shape the future of marketing
  • Contribute to and help shape AI governance and responsible adoption frameworks across marketing
  • Define the future-state vision for AI-enabled marketing within the therapeutic area and translate it into actionable plans
  • Build strong relationships with brand teams to drive engagement, trust, and sustained adoption
  • Serve as the key connector across marketing, MLR, IT, product teams, and external partners
  • Manage external vendors while ensuring alignment to J&J priorities and long-term capability strategy (best in class capabilities)
  • Continuously scan the external market for emerging AI capabilities, tools, and partners to ensure best-in-class solutions and avoid vendor lock-in
  • Represent therapeutic area marketing teams to ensure capabilities align with business needs and priorities
  • Identify workflow gaps and reimagine processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support pilots, testing, and phased rollouts to ensure successful deployment
  • Define and clearly articulate the team’s role and value within the organization
  • Position the team as strategic leaders and trusted SMEs in AI marketing transformation
  • Develop the strategy for change management and capability adoption, including how teams are enabled (in partnership with training and L&D teams)
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams (AI strategy, product/workbench, content ops, media) to reinforce a connected, end-to-end AI marketing ecosystem
  • Help shape the team’s long-term positioning, growth opportunities, and impact within the organization
