About The Position

The Associate Designer, Womens Swim supports Target Owned Brand Product Design and Development, working under the direction of design leaders to advance product design strategy and meet merchant objectives. The role calls for a diligent, self-directed approach to workload and accurate, timely communication with internal and external partners.

The designer supports product and trend research, trend concepts, color, and product design and development. They assist with product specifications and the development of trim, print, embellishment, and hardware packages, and translate ideas through CAD and hand sketches. The role also involves preparing design and technical sketches and professional presentation boards and materials for meetings and vendor partners. The Associate Designer works closely with Technical Design to communicate fit and construction details.

This position is performed onsite four days per week at Target’s Downtown Minnesota headquarters campus and is not eligible for remote work. Duties may change due to business needs.

Requirements

• Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or a similar area of study, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of experience.
• Computer design system skills, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software.
• Ability to stay aware of trends and fashion.
• Understanding of textiles, garment construction and fit, or raw materials and product production.
• Experience assimilating product feedback.
• Ability to research and apply market and trend information.
• Ability to build strong partnerships and work successfully in a team environment.

Responsibilities
