About The Position

We’re seeking a strategic and forward thinking academic leader who will play a pivotal role in providing academic leadership to a cluster of applied health programs within the Health, Wellness & Sciences portfolio. The Associate Dean will champion high standards of academic excellence, ensure outstanding program delivery and lead evidence informed enhancements that keep programs current, innovative, and responsive to evolving labor markets, technology, and professional practice expectations. This also includes championing scholarly and research activities while strengthening community engagement and external partnerships that enrich learning experiences, support innovation, and enhance opportunities for students and faculty. With a strong understanding of the post secondary health education landscape, the Associate Dean will advance college wide academic priorities and cultivate a collaborative and engaged team culture centered around shared commitment to student success. This role requires a leader with strong decision making skills, sound judgement, and a high level of accountability. Requirements

  • Master’s degree required (PhD preferred) in a discipline related to health or sciences; regulated health professional designation considered an asset.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching, curriculum development, and academic program development.
  • Strong knowledge of academic processes and procedures, including quality assurance, program review, accreditation, teaching and learning practices, and collective agreements within a unionized environment.
  • Proven ability to apply analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, support data-informed decision-making, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Highly effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, and manage complex situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to budget development, monitoring, and resource planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain community connections, partnerships, and networks.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and collegially within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in change management, including the ability to guide teams through organizational and academic transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership that fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture grounded in innovation, academic excellence, and continuous improvement, while leading effectively through change.
  • Co-lead the development and execution of the academic area’s operational plan in alignment with Georgian’s strategic priorities and academic direction.
  • Use data-informed decision-making to guide program planning, enrolment management, and continuous improvement.
  • Make strategic, timely decisions that support academic integrity, operational effectiveness, and an exceptional student experience.
  • Ensure program quality through curriculum review, program evaluation, and compliance with internal and external quality assurance, accreditation, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee teaching and learning practices, promoting evidence-based and innovative approaches to support student success and achievement of program outcomes.
  • Support the development of new programs that respond to emerging market needs, technological advancements, and community/industry priorities.
  • Promote the integration of current scholarship, applied research, and industry best practices into curriculum and teaching.
  • Create conditions that foster faculty and student engagement in applied research, scholarship, and innovation initiatives.
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff, ensuring performance, workload assignments, and expectations align with academic priorities and collective agreement provisions within a unionized environment.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative workplace through transparent communication and effective relationship-building.
  • Address complex issues involving faculty, staff, and students using fair, consistent, and diplomatic approaches to conflict resolution.
  • Promote ongoing professional development, teaching excellence, and role clarity across the academic team.
  • Oversee budgets, resource planning, enrolment projections, and financial stewardship, including monitoring and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with targets.
  • Manage workload assignments, scheduling, and operational processes in accordance with college policies and collective agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, supported by proactive risk management practices.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with industry partners, community organizations, professional associations, and advisory committees.
  • Identify and advance opportunities for collaboration, experiential learning, research partnerships, and student pathways that enhance employability.
  • Represent the college externally to strengthen Georgian’s reputation, visibility, and community impact
