About The Position

The College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) at Howard University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs. This role is responsible for managing Teaching Assistantships, graduate student funding, and the infrastructure for promoting and overseeing external funding to support faculty research. The Associate Dean will provide college-level leadership in managing and overseeing externally funded research for all 17 academic departments and anticipated new research centers. This position also involves liaising with the University’s Office of Research, coordinating events like the COAS Grants Academy, holding recurring meetings with faculty researchers, and engaging in data collection, analysis, reporting, and making recommendations to the Dean. Requirements

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution
  • Eligibility for appointment at the rank of tenured full professor
  • Served as Principal Investigator
  • Managed a portfolio of external grants
  • Record of successful administrative experience in the area of external funding
  • Record of scholarship, teaching, and professional service commensurate with the rank of tenured full professor
  • Effective communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities
