The Oklahoma State University (OSU) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is seeking applications for Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. The Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies has leadership and administrative responsibilities for the CVM research and graduate education programs. The Associate Dean works closely with and answers directly to the Dean of the CVM on all issues related to research and graduate education. Working collaboratively with the OSU Vice-President for Research, the Associate Dean promotes the strategic interests of the CVM research programs within the OSU System and state-wide. The Associate Dean works directly with the department heads and individual faculty members to promote research and plan the development of research programs and infrastructure throughout the CVM. Working with the VP for Research and the Central Sponsored Programs Administration, the Associate Dean administers the submission of grant requests, the grant budgets, regulatory compliance, and processing of appropriate reports. The Associate Dean interacts with faculty and other administrators on research matters through collegiate committees and as a voting member of the Veterinary Administrative Council. The Associate Dean will also work with the Associate Director of the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station in matters pertaining to veterinary medical research. The Associate Dean should have a vision of the future of biomedical research and the diverse spectrum of veterinary medical research and articulate that vision to faculty and administration. The Associate Dean should provide strong leadership in developing, implementing, and continually updating strategic plans for the research programs and infrastructure of the CVM. The Associate Dean provides vision and oversight for the Comparative Biomedical Sciences graduate program and works directly with the department heads and individual faculty members to promote the program, oversee curriculum review and revision, collection of data and evaluation of outcomes, and graduate student recruitment efforts. He/she is expected to practice, advocate, and promote the highest standards for scholarship, academic achievement, honesty and professional integrity. The position of Associate Dean is .75 FTE. The Associate Dean will be expected to work through his/her Department Head for allocation of the other .25 FTE. The nature of other duties may be research, teaching, service or some combination. Most importantly, the Associate Dean should encourage and facilitate research activities of CVM faculty.
