These units support diagnostic and therapeutic needs of the Gastroenterology Division. Procedures include upper endoscopy and colonoscopy; the STU pulmonary suite also performs airway endoscopy, commonly called bronchoscopy. Nurses rotate through admission (pre-op), procedure suites, recovery (PACU), and pre-admission testing, and must be familiar with the roles and procedures across the GI Unit. Anesthesiology is present for all GI procedures.
