Associate - Catastrophe Risk Technical Specialist
About The Position
Howden Re is a global reinsurance broker and risk, capital, and strategic advisor focused on innovation, analytics, and client service. Its decision support team (Modeling and Analytics) supports catastrophe reinsurance placements and works closely with clients’ operations. The team uses technology and collaboration to develop solutions that align with clients’ goals for profitable growth. The Associate - Catastrophe Risk Technical Specialist works with the Analytics team to enhance its analytical offerings through Python application development. The role focuses on building and deploying applications, improving client service and operational efficiency, rapidly delivering solutions, and explaining technical work to stakeholders. This is a full-time opportunity based in Edina, Minnesota.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or a similar analytical major.
- Proven experience in Python application development, with a focus on efficiency and innovation.
- Solid understanding of AI/ML methodologies and ability to develop, train, validate, and deploy models, including LLMs.
- Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience manipulating, cleaning, and analyzing data.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with SQL, React.js, and FastAPI.
