About The Position

A consumer protection law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its practice in Houston, Texas. The role handles a broad range of consumer protection issues, including transactional and civil litigation matters. The attorney will manage a heavy workload and communicate with the firm’s New York headquarters exclusively by telephone and electronic means, such as email and Microsoft Teams. The position is based from home, but requires travel for court appearances. Candidates must currently be located in the Houston area.

Requirements

• Currently admitted to practice law in Texas.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
• Currently located in the Houston, Texas area.
• Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior management and employees at all levels.
• Strong legal research skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of the firm’s clients in Texas.
• Communicate with clients regarding their matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements.
• Communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
• Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
• Travel for in-court appearances.
