About The Position
Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience to join our Ft. Lauderdale office. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented litigator to handle a diverse caseload and grow within a dynamic, trial-focused firm recognized for excellence nationwide. As part of our Florida Insurance Defense team, you will manage a broad range of matters, including: General civil litigation and insurance defense Construction defect litigation Premises liability Transportation and trucking defense Professional liability Catastrophic injury cases This position offers the opportunity to gain significant hands-on experience and mentorship from seasoned trial attorneys in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in Florida (required)
- 3+ years of experience in insurance defense and general civil litigation
- Proven ability to handle discovery, motion practice, and depositions independently
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Team-oriented with a proactive, client-focused approach
Nice To Haves
- Experience with construction defect, premises liability, and professional liability preferred
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Responsibilities
- Drafting pleadings, discovery, and dispositive motions
- Taking and defending fact and expert depositions
- Managing discovery and case strategy
- Attending hearings, mediations, and pre-trial conferences
- Communicating directly with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel
- Assisting with trial preparation and participating in trial as needed
