About The Position

Strickler, Platnick & Hatfield, P.C. (" The Modern Family Law Firm ") is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our growing team. We are a boutique family law firm representing clients throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C. Our practice is devoted exclusively to family law matters, including divorce, custody, child support, alimony, property division, relocation cases, contempt actions, and post-judgment litigation. Unlike many firms, we are looking for an attorney who already has litigation experience and is ready to take on an active caseload with significant client responsibility. Family law experience is preferred but not required. Strong litigation experience in family law, civil litigation, criminal litigation, or judicial clerkships will be highly valued.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of litigation experience
  • Strong legal writing and persuasive advocacy skills
  • Comfortable communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and courts
  • Sound judgment and professionalism
  • Strong organizational and case-management skills
  • Motivated to develop into an outstanding family law attorney
  • Thrives in a collegial, team-oriented environment

Responsibilities

  • Managing an active caseload with attorney support and mentorship
  • Meeting directly with clients and developing case strategy
  • Drafting motions, pleadings, memoranda, and other litigation documents
  • Preparing and responding to discovery requests
  • Reviewing and organizing financial, business, and evidentiary records
  • Negotiating settlements and participating in mediation
  • Conducting depositions and witness preparation
  • Attending hearings, settlement conferences, and trials
  • Working collaboratively with partners, associates, and support staff to obtain outstanding results for clients
