About The Position

We are seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney with 2–6 years of experience to join a well-established law firm practice. The position will focus primarily on estate planning, with additional exposure to estate and trust administration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience advising individuals and families regarding their estate planning needs and drafting a range of estate planning documents. This attorney will work closely with clients to understand their personal, family, and financial objectives and develop practical estate plans tailored to those goals.

Requirements

  • 2–6 years of Trusts & Estates experience, with meaningful experience in estate planning.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Appropriate state bar admission and good standing.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting wills, trusts, and other core estate planning documents.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and drafting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding sensitive personal and financial matters.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and other professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • Estate or trust administration experience is helpful but does not need to be the candidate's primary area of practice.
  • LL.M. is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel individuals and families regarding estate planning and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Draft, review, and revise wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and related estate planning documents.
  • Analyze clients' personal and financial circumstances and recommend appropriate estate planning structures.
  • Work directly with clients throughout the estate planning process, from initial consultation through execution and implementation.
  • Review existing estate plans and advise clients regarding updates based on changes in family circumstances, assets, or applicable law.
  • Coordinate with accountants, financial advisors, and other professionals as appropriate in developing and implementing estate plans.
  • Assist with estate and trust administration matters as needed, including advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries.
  • Support probate and related administration matters when applicable.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda or other written analyses on trusts and estates issues.
  • Collaborate with partners and other attorneys on client matters while developing increasing responsibility for client relationships.
