About The Position

This role will primarily focus on Asset-Based Finance (ABF) Group's structuring and underwriting efforts and marketing support, with some client interaction and involvement in the syndication process. In coordination with Relationship Managers and other product providers, the Associate will underwrite and syndicate ABF transactions for companies across various industries. The Associate will focus on borrower analysis, including assessing risk factors associated with the borrower’s credit and collateral, determining appropriate rating based on established policies and guidelines, and will be responsible for creating and submitting credit packages through internal systems. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant financial experience; specifically in Asset-Based Lending preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; MBA a plus.
  • Corporate finance professional with solid credit and analytical background.
  • Completion of a formal credit-training program at a money center bank a plus.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong financial modeling skills is a must.
  • Field Exam or Appraisal Experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Structuring, Underwriting & Execution: In conjunction with the ABF Origination team, evaluate customer information to determine optimal financing structure and security package.
  • Assist ABF Underwriting deal team lead on transactions.
  • Perform financial due diligence coordinating with deal team, third parties and borrowers.
  • Perform collateral due diligence, including review and analysis of collateral reports.
  • Prepare detailed financial models and stress tests, analyze companies' future performance, debt capacity and collateral position.
  • Manage internal transaction approval process: draft approval memoranda and submit through internal systems, present to management and credit committee, interact with credit officers.
  • Work with Senior Staff to draft and negotiate commitment letters and credit agreements.
  • Coordinate with Syndication team: draft offering memoranda and presentation for investors, organize bank meetings, answer investor due diligence questions.
  • Lead deal closing process including coordinating with legal counsel to ensure all necessary legal diligence is conducted and loan documents are prepared reflecting the bank’s credit approval and terms and conditions.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with external regulatory/internal policy and procedural requirements.
  • Participate in ad-hoc policy meetings to enhance organization wide credit risk framework.
  • Support and mentor junior analysts in credit risk management process.
  • Train and support junior staff on assigned transactions.
  • Guide junior staff in completing complex assignments.
  • Study, develop and enhance analytical skills of the team through close communication.
