About The Position

This role is for an Associate Architectural Designer who will be an essential part of a project team, contributing to all phases of a design project from Pre-Design through Construction Administration. The position involves developing design concepts, researching historical precedent, and preparing presentation materials. The designer will produce drawings and models under the direction of the design team and senior staff, assist in project coordination and documentation, and help with site condition surveys and analysis. Collaboration with the Project Manager and senior team members is key to producing deliverables accurately and on time. Responsibilities also include preparing for and attending client and consultant meetings, recording decisions, and issuing notes. The role requires assisting in coordination efforts with other project professionals, developing clear and considered drawings, and communicating effectively in written and oral formats. A crucial aspect is self-checking one's own work and that of team members for completeness and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • Ability and willingness to learn new design software required
  • Basic understanding of construction principles
  • Excellent analytical, time management, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills
  • Precise and personable verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to commute to our NYC office 5 days per week

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 3 years of full-time experience in an architectural practice preferred
  • A demonstrated understanding of and strong interest in classical architectural design principles
  • Strong artistic ability and graphic sensibility, with an eye for proportion and historical precedent
  • Proficiency in Revit and other architectural design software is a plus

Responsibilities
