About The Position

The Associate Accountant provides comprehensive support for the continual improvement of day-to-day operations, with a focus on meeting deadlines and supporting financial closing and reporting responsibilities. The successful candidate has a strong knowledge of accounting principles, strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The role may involve interaction with Tyson team members across the organization, as well as Tyson vendors and customers. The position is on the first shift and requires at least one trip per year. Relocation assistance is eligible. Candidates must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or commensurate experience reflecting knowledge typically acquired through a four-year degree.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Standard computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Good judgment in completing tasks.
Ability to set priorities and coordinate with others.
Willingness and ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

Six-plus months of work experience is preferred but not required.
SAP experience.

Responsibilities

Follow up on collections for aged accounts.
Assist with weekly and monthly close processes.
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations.
Amortize prepaid expenses.
Manage and retain documents.
Assist with ad hoc management reports and projects as they arise.
Use approved AI tools responsibly, protect sensitive information, follow company policies, validate AI-generated outputs, and apply professional judgment.
