Associate Accountant - Tax
About The Position
Prager Metis seeks an Associate Accountant - Tax to support tax preparation and related administrative processes. The role includes preparing tax returns and supporting tax filings, payments, refund tracking, client records, and correspondence. The starting salary range is $60,000–$62,000 and will be finalized based on the candidate’s years of experience and local cost of labor. Requirements
- CPA or working toward becoming a CPA.
- Must meet the credit requirement for CPA eligibility.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with ProSystem fx Engagement, CCH Axcess, Microsoft Office products, QuickBooks, or Xero is highly preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Assist with creating and requesting checks and mailing federal and state estimated tax vouchers.
- Prepare household employer payroll tax filings.
- Process electronic filing of tax returns.
- Maintain the tax refunds ledger.
- Review and compare gains and losses.
- Maintain the tax database for tracking client deadlines and filings.
- Maintain data in the tax reporting system.
- Print, collate, and mail tax returns to clients.
- Scan and organize electronic tax documents.
- Print and mail notices to the IRS and state agencies.
