About The Position

The Associate Director, Medical Giving & Partnerships is an accomplished and solution-driven leader responsible for overseeing external funding initiatives within the domains of grants (accredited and non-accredited Independent Medical Education [IME], patient education, and scientific advancement), sponsorships, and charitable giving. This role will support the shaping of US Medical and Patient Affairs funding strategies and disbursement of funds. The Associate Director will drive high-impact initiatives and lead transformational changes to support the advancement and scale of Servier’s business. This role reports to the Director of Medical Study Operations, Grants & Sponsorships and will sit within the US Medical Operations team. The AD will work cross-functionally with Medical and Patient Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Commercial/Sales Force, and Corporate Strategic Planning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in a scientific, healthcare, or English discipline
7+ years of experience in medical education, grants management, medical communications, professional society relations, or medical affairs within the pharmaceutical industry
Adequate scientific knowledge in oncology, hematology, or rare diseases with ability to synthesize scientific and medical information into actionable strategies
Proven expertise in sizeable budget management and grants/giving management systems (eg, Salesforce, CyberGrants, Envision, etc.)
Strong leadership skills with experience in strategic planning, outcomes analytics, and process auditing
Understanding of ACCME, PhRMA, OIG, FDA, and Sunshine Act guidelines
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive strategic medical and patient education plans for oncology, hematology, and rare disease areas in alignment with broader US Medical & Patient Affairs strategies
Serve as a primary liaison with Medical Education Companies (MECs) and scientific societies applying for grant funding from Servier
Lead the review and management of all grant applications from submission through program reconciliation, including chairmanship and organization of Servier’s Grants Committee and operational due diligence on grant requestors
Analyze educational outcomes to identify insights and inform future educational strategies
Ensure the value of Servier’s grant program is evident and communicated to internal stakeholders
Execute ongoing evaluation and monitoring of supported grants to ensure scientific accuracy, balance, and lack of bias
Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive engagement strategies with medical and patient organizations critical to Servier’s therapeutic areas
Serve as primary liaison with relevant scientific societies and congress organizations
Support relationships with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs)
Lead the internal approval process for any medical or patient sponsorship and corporate membership activities
Support the enhancement of strategic relationships, sourcing meaningful tangible benefits, and deployment of tangible benefits across the enterprise
Participate in enterprise planning workstreams pertaining to congresses, sponsorships, and medical communications
Support governance and operations for disbursement of funds to patient organizations and initiatives in accordance with US Medical and Patient Affairs strategies
Support the organization of Servier attendance at charitable events
Serve as the subject matter expert with respect to development and improvement of policies, standard operating procedures, and ways of working
Monitor and maintain documentation to meet compliance, legal, and government reporting requirements
Coach and mentor colleagues regarding best practices, business fundamentals, and department efficiencies
Business function lead for the advancement of technology solutions used in the lifecycle management of medical and patient grants, sponsorships, and charitable giving
Manage contracting activities and reporting of budgets, including phasing, payments, and reconciliation activities.
Support any program level reporting or analytics for routine business reviews, reports, or ad hoc requests
Manage functional growth of these programs, which may include future team development and direct people management
May support additional medical operations initiatives, such as congress planning or support, and team cross-coverage
