Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineering Project Manager

About The Position

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Project Manager for its Roseville, California office, joining the Property & Buildings team. This leadership role is focused on project delivery, client management, business development, and team leadership within WSP’s growing healthcare practice. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare clients and lead complex projects from pursuit and planning through design, construction, occupancy, and closeout, balancing project management, client relationships, financial performance, team leadership, and technical oversight. The role supports major healthcare clients across Northern California and contributes to the growth of WSP’s healthcare practice. Projects may include hospitals, medical office buildings, outpatient facilities, surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, laboratories, medical campuses, and other critical healthcare environments. The position provides technical leadership and oversight for healthcare electrical systems, including power distribution, emergency power systems, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage infrastructure. The role also involves collaboration with regional and national healthcare leadership, and requires ethical decision-making in accordance with WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
At least 10 years of experience delivering complex healthcare or large-scale building projects.
Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary project teams through all project phases.
Strong experience managing project schedules, budgets, contracts, staffing plans, and financial performance.
Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
Experience as a Project Manager, Client Manager, or Program Manager on healthcare facility projects.
Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, risk management, quality management, and construction administration.
Knowledge of California building codes, NEC, NFPA, and HCAI/OSHPD healthcare requirements.
Understanding of healthcare electrical systems sufficient to provide technical oversight and leadership.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to lead teams and deliver projects safely, efficiently, profitably, and with high client satisfaction.

Nice To Haves

Existing healthcare client relationships and an industry network in Northern California.
Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 5 years of project or program management experience leading large healthcare projects.
PMP certification.
LEED AP, WELL AP, or other sustainability-related credentials.
Experience managing acute care hospitals, laboratories, surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, and medical campuses.
Experience supporting business development, strategic growth initiatives, and client account management.
Experience working on HCAI/OSHPD healthcare projects.
Prior people-management or operational leadership experience.
40-hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Manage complex healthcare facility projects through planning, design, construction, and closeout.
Serve as the primary client contact and ensure strong communication, service, and project delivery.
Lead multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, architectural, and specialty consultants.
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, contract compliance, risk, and financial performance.
Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare systems, hospital administrators, architects, contractors, and industry stakeholders.
Establish project plans and execution strategies, and monitor project performance.
Facilitate client and project-team meetings, design reviews, and executive presentations.
Support business development through client engagement, proposals, fee negotiations, interviews, and pursuit planning.
Identify opportunities for repeat business and expanded services within healthcare accounts.
Mentor project managers, engineers, and design staff, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
Provide executive oversight of project quality, technical coordination, and risk management.
Collaborate with regional and national healthcare leadership on strategic growth initiatives.
Support recruiting, workforce planning, succession planning, and team development in the California Property & Buildings practice.
Provide technical leadership and oversight for healthcare electrical systems, including power distribution, emergency power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage infrastructure.
Make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, following WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
