About The Position

The Assistant Vice President & CRE Loan Officer will be responsible for soliciting commercial real estate loan submissions, analyzing, negotiating, and structuring new loan submissions. This role involves developing and maintaining relationships with external business contacts, collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth loan processing, and staying informed about market trends and regulations. The position also requires providing guidance to department personnel and performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to source, structure and originate multifamily as well as non-multifamily real estate loans (office, retail, industrial, etc.) in the NY Metropolitan area including the NYC 5 Boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Northern NJ and Fairfield County Connecticut counties
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local commercial real estate market as well as overall commercial real estate underwriting practices and requirements
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and sales related skills
  • Detail and goal-oriented individual, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in commercial real estate loan origination preferred.
  • Underwriting experience helpful
  • Experience originating construction loans, C&I loans, Owner Occupied CRE and SBA loans a plus
  • Undergraduate, four-year college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit commercial real estate loan submissions secured by multifamily, mixed-use, retail and office properties in order to meet annual established commercial real estate loan origination targets
  • Analyze, negotiate and structure new commercial real estate loan submissions for management and or Board of Trustee approval.
  • Perform collateral inspections for all new loan applications.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with outside business contacts including existing and potential borrowers, mortgage brokers, attorneys, real estate agents, real estate developers, accountants, etc.
  • Work closely with Commercial Loan Underwriters and Commercial Loan Processors to ensure timely flow of assigned loans from application through closing and assist in resolving any issues as they arise.
  • Assist the Bank's portfolio management area to ensure complete conformity with the terms and conditions of the Bank approval and loan documents as needed.
  • Assist the Bank's mortgage servicing and portfolio management areas as needed with regard to delinquent loans, non-performing loans and Real Estate Owned as needed.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Department personnel.
  • Keep informed of trends and developments in the real estate market, as well as the changing rules and regulations pertaining to commercial real estate lending.
  • Such other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
