About The Position

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services, the Assistant Vice President, Admissions and Enrollment Management (AVP) is responsible for developing the institutional admission policy, philosophy and procedures, along with administrative student systems and software to support the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan of the CSU system and Long Beach campus, working in accordance with federal, state, and system wide regulations. The AVP collaborates with the Vice Provost of Academic Planning and partners with the Enrollment Tech Committee in the development of an enrollment model, which projects and monitors student enrollment. In collaboration with Academic Affairs, this position creates an analytical predictive enrollment model each year that reflects the coordination and contribution of the college office stakeholders and ensures that the university enrollment goals can consistently be met. Leading the staff team who successfully processes over 120,000 applications each academic year, this position shares a strategic vision for both technology and human resource development. As a thought leader with in-depth knowledge of data mining in higher education to reveal enrollment trends and research, this position is responsible for creating a long-term strategy that includes planning for a potential changing enrollment landscape and emerging opportunities.

Requirements

  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Admissions and/or Enrollment Management.
  • Master’s degree is required.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Creates a long-term strategy that includes planning for a potential changing enrollment landscape and emerging opportunities for changing capacity.
  • Analyze campus trends, considering external factors and national trends, to create a much more predictable yield.
  • Oversee University Outreach and School Relations, to ensure prospective student recruitment and yield efforts remain in alignment with university objectives.
  • Lead campus events such as Day at The Beach to help increase yield and reach assigned targets.
  • Lead the team who successfully processes over 120,000 applications each academic year, sharing and implementing a strategic vision for both technology and human resource development.
  • Provide vision for the Student System’s team to identify and advance the use of technology to create new processes for ES staff as well as reporting functions to include melt and analytics for colleges to better plan, including the creation of a robust interactive dashboard.
  • Create and implement an analytical predictive enrollment model each year for the Fall admission cycle that reflects the coordination and contribution of the college office stakeholders, and ensures that the university enrollment goals can consistently be met.
  • Develop institutional admission policy, philosophy and procedures, including student systems and software implementation, in support of the campus Strategic Enrollment Management Plan.
  • Provide guidance to set measurable enrollment goals and strategies through the collection, evaluation, and communication of data and analysis supporting the university's strategic plan and academic mission.
