About The Position

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is seeking a motivated and curious Underwriting Assistant to join their Credit & Surety team in Dallas/Plano, Texas. This role involves supporting the underwriting process for contract surety accounts by analyzing financial data, managing account documentation, and ensuring underwriters have the necessary information for decision-making. It offers an opportunity to develop expertise in surety underwriting within a collaborative, global, and innovative insurance environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience or education in finance, accounting, or a related field, with the ability to interpret and evaluate financial statements.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and drawing meaningful conclusions to support underwriting decisions.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), with the ability to produce accurate reports and correspondence efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the insurance, surety, or financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with underwriting systems or document management platforms such as CUA/Imaging.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing legal or financial agreements such as GIAs or subordination agreements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Update CUA/Imaging systems with current underwriting information for both new and existing accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Enter financial information into CUA, including preliminary analysis, and evaluate new and existing accounts to identify potential red flags or positive attributes.
  • Pull personal and corporate credit reports to support underwriting decisions and assess the creditworthiness of companies and their owners.
  • Establish new accounts in CUA, ensuring all pertinent documentation is captured and maintained according to the SRCS Surety Group Procedure Manual.
  • Prepare and review General Indemnity Agreements (GIAs) and/or subordination agreements upon request, and maintain current credit information files in line with established procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain bid logs, recording results, and updating records for approved bids and bid outcomes.
  • Review and approve consent of surety for agents on final bonds under specific conditions (no outstanding claims, all subcontractors and suppliers paid, no lingering issues).
  • Support agency appointment documentation and follow-up, address agent questions and concerns, and assist with year-end review and conditional bid approval requirements.
  • Participate in special projects and provide custom reports as delegated by the Regional/Branch Manager.
