This position involves assisting with the Girls and Boys Track Team, including tryouts, practices, and games. The coach will develop and execute training programs, motivate and mentor student-athletes, and instruct them in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training. A key aspect of the role is to guide student-athletes in developing moral values, pride, social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence, while fostering teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, and skills development. The coach will also ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes, cooperate with the School Athletic Director and District Athletic Department, and meet all mandated requirements from the District Board of Education, OHSAA, and ODE. This includes completing the Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and obtaining an ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP). The role also requires checking the academic eligibility of student-athletes, adhering to District Athletic Department Policies, and modeling appropriate behavior. Maintaining suitable sideline conduct, accepting constructive criticism, and staying aware of administrative policies are also essential. The coach will provide in-season training rules and out-of-season conduct guidelines, follow due process for violations, and participate in clinics to improve coaching performance. Additionally, participation in school events and assisting in opponent preparation, along with maintaining equipment inventory, are expected.
