The Assistant Track Coach is responsible for assisting in the administration of the designated sports program, including developing team philosophies, supervising players, and managing equipment inventory. This role involves working with the head coach and athletic director/principal on program budget, maintaining fields and facilities, and preparing practice/game plans. The coach will also supervise an off-season strength and conditioning program, assist in monitoring player academic progress, and provide care for injuries. A key aspect of the role is developing positive relationships with players, parents, students, coaches, band members, faculty, officials, media, and the community. The coach must be knowledgeable of and strictly adhere to all WVSSAC rules and attend required WVSSAC clinics. Additionally, the position involves assisting in organizing supplemental funding activities, cooperating in the supervision and evaluation of other coaches, participating in staff development, and engaging in the school’s Sportsmanship Program and Scholar/Athlete Program. Effective communication with the head coach, athletic director, and/or principal regarding all operations and activities is essential. Reasonable job-related responsibilities assigned by administrators are also part of the role.
