About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing various operational aspects of the men's hockey program at St. Cloud State University. Key duties include managing travel coordination, game and practice scheduling, video operations, and event coordination. The role also involves supervising graduate assistants, interns, and student workers, and assisting with alumni and community engagement events. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's goals and support the hockey programs, including monitoring student-athlete academic progress and liaising with the conference office.

Requirements

  • Master's degree plus one year of professional experience in athletic administration, coaching, ticketing, budgeting, video operations or related field, OR Bachelor's degree plus two years of professional experience in athletic administration, coaching, ticketing, budgeting, video operations or related field.
  • Progressive experience in a competitive athletics environment (student-athlete, student manager, professional athlete, video coordinator, etc.).
  • Knowledge and understanding of competitive Division I men's and women's hockey, including general program operations, recruiting, and game day protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy, and the ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong background with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines.
  • Must be available for overnight and weekend travel.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment. Eligibility includes being a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, or a foreign national authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship. Employees must maintain work authorization without sponsorship for the duration of their appointment.
  • Appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in video editing software, specifically DVSport, or other similar products.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee travel coordination for the men's hockey program, including budget development, seeking bids, securing accommodations (lodging, meals, transportation, equipment), and arranging recruiting travel.
  • Assist in the organization and implementation of all game and practice scheduling for the men's program.
  • Assist in developing team competition schedules, including completing game contracts and adhering to budget parameters and finance policies.
  • Design processes to annually review competencies in work overseen and redesign work as necessary to meet changing budget requirements and ensure competitive success.
  • Prepare and supervise special video and/or administrative projects and support as requested by the men's hockey coaching staff.
  • Coordinate film exchange with non-conference and conference opponents.
  • Oversee all audio, visual, and technical needs for the men's hockey staff.
  • Assist in research and decision-making related to video equipment, and serve as the liaison to video equipment providers.
  • Provide oversight and training for graduate assistants, interns, and student workers for men's hockey operations.
  • Manage small-scale productions and highlight videos for special events.
  • Assist in coordinating special events related to men's hockey, including annual alumni events (golf fundraiser, alumni games, alumni outreach).
  • Assist in scheduling/organizing community engagement events (Skate with the Huskies, youth clinics, community service projects, etc.).
  • Assist with summer camps.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to build support for and add value to the objectives and goals of the University, department of Athletics, and hockey programs.
  • Assist in monitoring student-athlete academic progress.
  • Assist in communication with the conference office related to schedules, travel, and video programming.
