About The Position

Lake Country Co-op invites applications for the position of full-time Assistant Team Leader onsite at our Food Store location in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan. In this role, you will supervise team members, manage inventory, and support Asset Protection and Safety Management systems for a location generating approximately $2.2 million in food, liquor, fuel, and post office sales.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience in retail grocery operations
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to analyze sales performance, manage budgets, and implement strategies to achieve targets.
  • Highly organized and strategic, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and lead teams.
  • Experience with inventory management, merchandising, and team supervision.
  • Confident using point-of-sale systems and store management software.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Able to fulfill physical job requirements, including standing for entire shift and lifting 25-50lbs.
  • Carry a valid driver’s license (Class 5 minimum).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the behaviors and actions to support Lake Country Co-operative’s vision, mission, and safety principles to make a difference in members’ lives with a strong customer-focused approach.
  • Support and guide daily retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and team coordination.
  • Monitor sales, labour costs, and store performance.
  • Lead, train, schedule, and supervise team members to maintain efficient operations and high customer service standards.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions when required.
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
  • Support cash handling, deposits, daily reporting, and point-of-sale system operations.
  • Conduct inventory counts, audits, and loss prevention procedures.
  • Champion and ensure compliance with all safety, asset protection, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Become familiar with and adhere to Lake Country Co-op policies, such as selling of age restricted items and all government regulations relating to tobacco, liquor, lottery, and fireworks.
  • Respond to emergencies, staffing shortages, or operational issues as needed.
  • Perform minor repairs to assets as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
