About The Position

An Assistant Teaching Professor is a full-time faculty position appointed for a limited term at the discretion of the Dean and does not have a presumption of renewability. Within the School of Law, the position is a non-voting member of the faculty. The position has instructional, service, and additional responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Full-time faculty position.
  • Non-voting member of the faculty within the School of Law.
  • Must adhere to ABA requirements and AALS standards for full-time faculty.
  • Must follow Emory's conflict of interest/commitment process for external activities, including requesting authorization and annual certification.
  • External activity is expected not to exceed 52 days (416 hours).

Responsibilities

  • Teach three (3) courses during the 2026-2027 academic year, selected in consultation with the Vice Dean, from the following list: Negotiations, Alternative Dispute Resolution.
  • Provide student consultation, including a posted schedule of office hours with a minimum of five hours a week over a period of at least two days.
  • Engage in course development and refresh.
  • Supervise directed research and/or law journal notes (not expected to supervise more than four students, unless desired).
  • Provide service to the School of Law as defined and assigned by the Dean or Dean’s designee, which may include serving on faculty committees, attending faculty meetings as a non-voting member, and other duties as defined by the Dean or the Dean’s designee.
  • Devote all or substantially all of your time to faculty responsibilities, adhering to Emory's conflict of interest/commitment process regarding external activities.
