About The Position

The School for the Digital Future (SDF) at Boise State University is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) to begin August 2026. This role focuses on preparing students for the digital world through interdisciplinary education, emphasizing critical thinking, ethical action, and leadership. The ideal candidate will connect humanistic, social, and technological perspectives to develop students' digital literacies, data ethics awareness, and professional adaptability. Faculty in SDF teach courses that blend digital fluency with human-centered inquiry, enabling students to analyze, communicate, and create responsibly in technology-rich environments. This is a full-time, 9-month renewable appointment with opportunities for advancement within Boise State’s Teaching Faculty ranks.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, Media Studies, Digital Humanities, or related field).
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum design.
  • Evidence of ability to integrate digital tools, literacies, or ethical frameworks into teaching.
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered pedagogy and the mission of the School for the Digital Future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching interdisciplinary or project-based courses that blend digital and human-centered learning at the university level.
  • Background in data or AI ethics, digital storytelling, or innovation pedagogy for non-technical learners.
  • Engagement with open educational practices, digital scholarship, or community engagement.
  • Experience supporting career readiness or digital competencies for diverse student populations in the liberal arts.
  • Experience teaching in a variety of modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and online environments.
  • Interest in contributing to the School’s evolving faculty innovation and interdisciplinary initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach interdisciplinary courses and learning experiences that integrate digital literacy, data ethics, and human-centered inquiry.
  • Incorporate inclusive and innovative pedagogies that foster student success and belonging.
  • Collaborate with SDF and COAS faculty to build stackable credentials and experiential pathways that prepare students for the digital workforce.
  • Support the SDF with community partnerships and build an advisory board structure aligned with the mission and vision of the school.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborative initiatives that advance innovative, inclusive, and future-oriented teaching practices within the School and across the University.
  • Engage in service to the School, College, and University consistent with non-tenure-track faculty expectations.
