About The Position

The University of Wisconsin–Green Bay Human Biology program is seeking applicants for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Microbiology. The successful applicant will contribute to an academic unit which is interdisciplinary in nature and has a strong history of preparing students for careers in health professions. This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven inclusive teaching efforts and creating and maintaining an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Earned Master’s degree (or higher) in Microbiology or related field (e.g., Immunology, Parasitology, Medical Mycology) by the beginning date of appointment is required
  • The successful candidate must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, commitment to undergraduate education, and communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of college teaching experience is preferred
  • PhD in Microbiology is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a course load of 27 credits (~9 courses) per academic year in Microbiology with opportunities to teach other courses in the Human Biology program.
  • Additional teaching assignments could include introductory and upper-level courses (e.g., Microbiology, Mycology, Parasitology, Immunology) in Human Biology.
  • Service responsibilities include advising students and contributing to departmental and institutional development.
