About The Position

The College of Health, Education and Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Nursing & Health Studies. The successful applicant will contribute to an academic unit which embraces a team-based approach and innovative teaching methods to develop students who can think critically while delivering high quality care. This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven inclusive teaching efforts and creating and maintaining an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds. This position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track academic year, Instructional Academic Staff appointment. The home campus of this position is Green Bay and the successful candidate may occasionally be required to teach a course or work at the Sheboygan or Manitowoc Campus based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • Earned Master's Degree in Nursing, from an accredited institution prior to start date.
  • 2 years of recent nursing experience
  • Unencumbered Wisconsin Nursing license at time of hire
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
  • Unencumbered Wisconsin Nursing License or ability to obtain a Wisconsin Nursing License; Must have an unencumbered Wisconsin Nursing license at the time of employment
  • Expected to work inclusively and respectfully within a diverse campus community and practice civility in the workplace.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated integrity and strong leadership
  • Willingness to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience, preferably in nursing
  • Recent clinical nursing experience with preference given for experience in medical surgical, maternity, pediatrics, or critical care.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with acute and long-term care healthcare clinical sites
  • Contribute to the ongoing programmatic development of the Nursing & Health Studies programs.
  • Facilitate optimal learning through integration of technology and utilization of appropriate delivery methods.
  • Implement inclusive instructional strategies to increase support for students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds at UW Green Bay.
  • Teach courses in didactic, skills/simulation, and clinical.
  • Advises and mentors students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study
