About The Position

The Runstad Department of Real Estate in the College of Built Environments at the University of Washington is seeking applications for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. This full-time, nine-month academic appointment begins September 16, 2027, with an initial three-year term, eligible for renewal. The role involves designing, delivering, and assessing instruction for undergraduate and graduate programs, mentoring students, and engaging in departmental and college service. The successful candidate will teach 24 credit hours annually, potentially including large lectures and small seminars across the curriculum. The Runstad Department, established in 2017, offers a Real Estate Major, Minor, Master of Science in Real Estate, and Graduate Certificates in Real Estate and Housing Studies, serving over 400 students.

Requirements

• Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in real estate, urban planning, construction management, geography, economics, public policy, business related disciplines, or another field with clear overlap in real estate theory or practice, with degree completion required no later than September 2027.
• Evidence, documented in the application materials, of a strong record of outstanding teaching or professional practice expertise in real estate or a closely related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess instruction across undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Teach 24 credit hours during each academic year.
