About The Position

The School of Hospitality Management in the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) at University Park seeks applicants for a 48-week non-tenure track teaching faculty member at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor starting August 2026. The successful candidate would primarily be expected to serve as the Department’s career and professional development coordinator, which includes supporting students in their various professional development courses, internship experiences, seeking, managing and enhancing partnerships with industry professionals and alumni, and organizing events with national and international industry employers recruiting from the school’s students. Candidates will also contribute to teaching courses and must have teaching expertise in at least one core curriculum area within the department including hotel, food service, events or restaurant management and or functional areas such as technology applications, marketing, human resources, and other relevant content to the school’s hospitality curricula.

Requirements

  • Earned an M.S. in Hospitality Management, or related field.
  • Evidence of the ability to teach at the university level, including in-person and online (synchronous and asynchronous)

Responsibilities

  • Work with Professor-in-Charge of undergraduate education in the coordination of curricular professional work requirements of students, and advise on curriculum improvements based on data-drive assessments of job placements, alumni career pathways, and industry feedback.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to students through customized programming, student organizational advisement, and collaboration with college and university career offices.
  • Maintain the industry and professional database and work to build sustainable, long-term partnerships between employers and alumni with the goal of creating opportunities for career and professional development of students and meaningful industry partnerships.
  • Teach selected courses in the HM core including professional development seminars, core and elective courses in the undergraduate and non-credit programs.
  • Work with the undergraduate Professor-in-Charge, industry and alumni relations team, and/or Academic Advisors to plan career focused events for students, assist in events that recruit students to the programs and elevate alumni engagement.
  • Also responsible for other service and duties as assigned by the HM School Director.
