About The Position

University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College is seeking a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor for the HVACR Department. This faculty position is responsible for providing a quality learning experience for students, performing instruction-related duties in accordance with college policies, and acting as a teacher and facilitator of learning. The successful hire will teach various HVACR courses, including Principles of HVACR I & II, Residential HVAC, Heating Systems, Systems Design, Commercial HVAC, Commercial Refrigeration, Unitary Refrigeration, and HVAC Internships. The role also involves maintaining office hours, participating in professional development and college events, establishing positive working relationships, utilizing contemporary educational techniques, maintaining HVACR discipline skills, presenting information in a timely manner, providing prompt assessment records, demonstrating professionalism, organizing advisory committee meetings, supporting student competitions, and completing required reports. Other duties may be assigned by the department director, school dean, or Provost.

Requirements

  • Five years of industry experience in the residential or commercial HVAC field.
  • EPA 608 type “Universal” certified for refrigerant handling.
  • Familiar with standard air-cooled split systems, chiller, water cooled condensers, cooling towers, VRF equipment, and basic control devices.

Nice To Haves

  • 7 years of industry experience.
  • A.C.C.A. Manual “J” system sizing and “D” Duct sizing experience.
  • Manual “S” and “T” form software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 30 credit hours at the undergraduate level per academic year, which may vary based on discipline and demand.
  • Maintain office hours and establish a campus presence in accordance with UA-PTC Campus Presence Policy 623.
  • Actively and consistently participate in orientations, professional development workshops, all mandatory or required training, events, and meetings, such as shared governance, commencement, and convocation.
  • Establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with students, colleagues, and staff.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to use contemporary educational techniques and technology.
  • Maintain skills or knowledge required for the HVACR discipline.
  • Utilize syllabus, BlackBoard, timeline of class curriculum, and other information to present information in a timely manner for the success of students.
  • Provide prompt and accurate records of assessments and final grade reports.
  • Demonstrate consistent professionalism with students and commitment to working cooperatively with campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of the College.
  • Organize and host advisory committee meetings once each semester to ensure ongoing industry engagement, gather program feedback, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support student participation in competitions such as SkillsUSA.
  • Complete all required reports, including but not limited to, course-level or program-level outcomes assessment and academic program review, within the prescribed time frame.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department director, school dean, or Provost.
