About The Position

The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Education to begin in August 2026. This position will support undergraduate and graduate programs with a primary focus on Special Education PreK–12. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in teaching, developing curriculum, advising, and recruiting. They will contribute to the continued growth of the School of Education’s initial and advanced certification programs and have opportunities for advancement in rank. Candidates must be able to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions. Requirements

  • An earned doctorate (preferred) or master’s degree in education (completed by time of appointment).
  • A minimum of three years teaching in a PreK–12 setting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of PDE SAS resources, Pennsylvania Chapter 354 guidelines for educator preparation programs, and the process for aligning and assessing the competencies in PDE program frameworks with programs and courses.
  • Must be able to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its strong liberal arts foundation that supports exemplary professional education programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Special Education PreK–12.
  • Teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate certification programs.
  • Experience working with inclusive and diverse populations.
  • Certification or certification-eligible in Early Childhood, Secondary Education 7-12, or Special Education PreK–12 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
