About The Position

This position will have a range of teaching, service, and advising responsibilities in the Department of Entrepreneurship. Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in entrepreneurship and finance, supported by relevant professional, academic, or applied experience, along with a strong commitment to teaching excellence. The Assistant Teaching Professor or Assistant Lecturer will have primary teaching responsibilities in the areas of Entrepreneurship and finance. The primary responsibility is to teach undergraduates and masters students in areas including business model development, venture financing, venture marketing (and particularly new customer acquisition), and developing high performing entrepreneurial teams. The position is also expected to provide support for co-curricular events sponsored by the Department of Entrepreneurship related to venture financing and collaboration with related ecosystem organizations (e.g. venture capital, angel investor groups, etc.), advise and mentor students and student teams, and assist with student recruiting/retention. Requirements

  • Doctorate in entrepreneurship, business, or a closely related field by the date of appointment for or appointment as an Assistant Teaching Professor.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience, which may include industry and/or teaching experience in entrepreneurship and finance.
  • Relevant industry experience may involve roles such as Founder or Co-Founder of a startup or new venture, serving in a C-suite or senior leadership position within a startup or private company, or leading the development and launch of a commercial venture addressing a defined market need.
  • Master’s degree in entrepreneurship, business, or a closely related field by the date of appointment for appointment as an Assistant Lecturer.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience, which may include industry and/or teaching experience in entrepreneurship and finance.
  • Relevant industry experience may involve roles such as Founder or Co-Founder of a startup or new venture, serving in a C-suite or senior leadership position within a startup or private company, or leading the development and launch of a commercial venture addressing a defined market need.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience engaging with entrepreneurial experience in startup, entrepreneurial ecosystem building, workforce readiness, demonstrated investment experience working for a Private Equity or Venture Capital firm, corporate innovation, social entrepreneurship or creativity.
  • Evidence of experience teaching financial principles in the context of entrepreneurship (e.g., venture capital or angel financing, evaluation/negotiation of startup investment deals, new business financial models, margins, P&L statements, capitalization tables, etc.) to students and/or colleagues.
  • A combination of education and professional experiences around these topics, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Teaching experience, where applicable, should reflect subject-matter expertise in entrepreneurship and finance and a strong commitment to teaching excellence, including the ability to connect theory with practice.

Responsibilities

  • Primary teaching responsibilities in the areas of Entrepreneurship and finance.
