About The Position

The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese at Penn State (University Park) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor position in Italian (non-tenure-track), to begin in August 2026. This is a term position, with the length of the term to be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. The College of the Liberal Arts is committed to offering professional growth and promotional opportunities for non-tenure-line faculty appointments.

Requirements

Native or near-native fluency in English and Italian.
Completed a Master’s degree in Italian or in a related field by the appointment date.

Interests or experience with study abroad programs.
Interests or experience with course design.
Interests or experience with recruitment of majors and minors.

Responsibilities

Teaching introductory and intermediate language courses.
Teaching load is six courses per year or equivalent configuration with the possibility that up to half of the courses will be taught online (asynchronous).
