Assistant Teacher
About The Position
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a part-time, hourly Assistant Teacher who is passionate about supporting children, connecting with the community, and creating a fun learning environment. The role assists with planning and implementing engaging, child-centered, age-appropriate curricula and helps maintain a patient, sensitive environment for children and families. It also supports children’s personal care routines and keeps the environment healthy through light cleaning, while ensuring children are supervised and safe. The Assistant Teacher follows YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines to support high-quality childcare.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Two years (2,500 hours) of verified childcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing dynamic curricula with fun, child-centered, age-appropriate lessons.
- Cultivate a sensitive, patient childcare environment for children and families.
- Maintain a healthy environment through light cleaning and support children’s personal care routines.
- Supervise each child by identifying, seeing, hearing, directing, and assisting to ensure a safe environment.
- Uphold YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines for quality childcare.
