About The Position

The Goddard School® located at 2496 Bushwood Drive Elgin, IL 60124 is seeking an energetic, caring Part-Time Assistant Teacher to join our team! This role is ideal for high school and college students who enjoy working with young children and want a meaningful job in a positive, supportive environment. You’ll work alongside a Lead Teacher to create engaging activities, support classroom routines, and help maintain a safe, nurturing space for every child.

Requirements

High school diploma or currently enrolled in high school/college
Friendly, patient, and compassionate with young children
Able to work independently and take initiative
Basic understanding of child development (training provided)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when needed
Must pass required state background checks and meet licensing requirements

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher with age-appropriate lesson plans and hands-on activities
Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
Help prepare classroom materials and maintain a clean, organized environment
Provide individualized attention and help children feel welcomed and supported
Assist with daily communication to families about classroom activities
Follow all health, safety, and licensing guidelines
Support daily routines such as snack time, playtime, and transitions
