About The Position

The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting in implementing all components of the children’s services curriculum within his/her designated classroom in a manner which is reflective of KCARC’s mission to advocate and provide opportunities in a dignified and respectful manner for the total well-being of individuals and families with special needs.

Requirements

Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
Maintain good hygiene.
Possess excellent research and writing skills.
Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Possess the ability to use tact and empathy when dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships.
Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products (Computer literate).
Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
Be able to multitask effectively in a sometimes fast paced environment.
CPR/First Aid certification.
Ability to pass state required physical.

Nice To Haves

Must possess a CDA or must begin working toward a CDA after first year of employment, or an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Background experience in developmentally appropriate practices in an Early Childhood setting.
Must demonstrate insight, sensitivity, flexibility, and a strong desire to work with children.
