About The Position
The Head Start Assistant Teacher works to ensure comprehensive Head Start services are provided to children and families enrolled in the program. The role uses the center environment to assist staff in creating rich learning opportunities that build on daily routines and support each child's development and education. The position is full time for nine months of the year, with furlough from May through August.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current Pre-K CDA, or willingness to obtain one through the employer's program at no cost within two years.
- Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education.
Responsibilities
- Help ensure comprehensive Head Start services are provided to enrolled children and families.
- Assist staff in using the center environment to create learning opportunities based on daily routines.
- Support each child's development and education.
