About The Position

Oak Hill School is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support students with diverse learning and developmental needs. Working alongside Special Education Teachers and a multidisciplinary team, the Assistant Teacher helps students pursue their educational and personal goals, build independence, and celebrate progress. The role supports students’ academic, social, and behavioral development through individualized and small-group instruction, behavior support, personal care, and collaboration with educational professionals and families.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license held for at least two and a half to three years.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to follow instructional plans and directions.
Compassion, patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Ability to safely assist students with mobility and personal care needs.

Nice To Haves

College coursework in Education or a related field.
Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities.
Experience in a classroom or educational setting.
Knowledge of student development and behavioral support strategies.

Responsibilities

Support students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral goals outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Work one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce classroom instruction.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Encourage student independence and implement individualized behavior support plans.
Assist with classroom observation and document student progress.
Provide personal care, including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, transferring, and other daily living activities as needed.
Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
Assist students during transportation and school transitions when necessary.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and other educational professionals to promote student success.
Participate in ongoing training and maintain required certifications, including V-Endorsement.
Apply ARC principles (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency).
