About The Position

The Assistant Teacher supports the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate classroom activities and helps maintain a safe, nurturing environment that promotes young children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. The role includes engaging children in classroom and enrichment activities, supporting classroom routines, and building positive relationships with families, coworkers, and program participants.

Requirements

• Must be at least 20 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Documentation of a physical exam and TB test.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet licensing requirements.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, creative attitude.
• 15 credit hours (per jurisdictional guideline), a 90-hour certificate, or a CDA.
• Must obtain a CDA within 18 months of employment.
• One year of teaching experience in a licensed center.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing lesson plans that meet the needs and interests of children.
• Maintain a safe environment and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and parent-child events.
• Keep classrooms neat, clean, and organized, and support children with cleanup routines.
• Build positive relationships with families, coworkers, and program participants.
• Participate in field trips, special events, and enrichment activities.
• Engage children during story time, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and group activities.
