About The Position

The Goddard School® in Macomb, Michigan, is seeking a motivated and caring Assistant Teacher. The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs, managing the classroom, and maintaining a safe, stimulating environment. The role involves helping children develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically through active engagement and positive interactions, while supporting daily care routines and communicating with families. Requirements

High school diploma required.
Show empathy and compassion for young children.
Work productively without supervision.
Have a basic understanding of child development.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children.
Pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience, and credential requirements.

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment.
Supervise children, provide individualized support, and foster a sense of belonging.
Assist in communicating with families about children’s progress and daily activities.
Follow health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations.
Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
