About The Position

The Assistant Teacher works side-by-side with teachers and families to provide a home-away-from-home for children in care, according to NAEYC guidelines. The role supports children ages 6 weeks to 12 years by helping with classroom instruction, maintaining a warm, safe, and clean environment, encouraging children’s involvement in activities, and communicating effectively with parents and guardians. Paid training on classroom procedures is provided; prior classroom experience is not required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized.
• Ability to work within regular operating hours.
• Must meet state criteria for child care employment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and supervision of children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
• Assist teachers with classroom instruction.
• Decorate classrooms inside and outside as needed.
• Maintain a warm, safe, and clean environment where children can grow and explore.
• Interact with children to encourage their involvement in activities.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child.
