About The Position

The Assistant Teacher assists the Lead Teacher in implementing the school’s philosophy and curriculum. The role also involves using Lupine Lane’s literacy and mathematics materials with children and conducting small-group and individual lessons and activities. The Assistant Teacher supports lesson planning and classroom preparation, helps create and maintain a welcoming and stimulating physical environment, and promotes developmentally appropriate learning and positive interactions with children. The position also includes administrative work when children are not present and collaboration with families in support of each child’s best interests.

Requirements

Able to lift 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

Use the Lead Teacher’s Topic Studies and Weekly Intentions to assist with preparation.
Become familiar with the trajectory established by the Lead Teacher.
Develop literacy and math lessons that embody Lupine Lane’s philosophy and curriculum.
Complete, post, and email Monthly Intentions by the first of each month.
Ensure classroom materials, supplies, and teaching are developmentally appropriate.
Engage children with stimulating interactions and materials, and deliver information accessibly and engagingly.
Use technology intentionally in a pedagogical context.
Assist the Lead Teacher in creating and maintaining a welcoming, stimulating classroom that supports supervision and engagement.
Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness daily and maintain organization in common areas.
Use school materials and supplies resourcefully and respectfully.
Ensure the classroom reflects evidence of learning.
Show mutual respect toward children and use developmentally appropriate interactions.
Welcome each child upon arrival and follow the positive discipline policy, using a pleasant tone and mild manner.
Complete administrative work when children are not present.
Greet families warmly, respect confidentiality, and work as a team with families to promote each child’s best interests.
