About The Position

Under the direction of the Lead Teacher(s), the Assistant Teacher provides high-quality care to children enrolled in Greater Midland’s Early Childhood Education programs. The role participates in implementing daily routines and age- and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities. The Assistant Teacher is expected to maintain high personal standards and adhere to and promote Greater Midland’s Purpose and Values.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED required.
TB and fingerprint clearance required.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to physically engage at a child’s level continuously.

Nice To Haves

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.
Three credit hours in a child-related field preferred.
Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain daily documentation of activities, progress, milestones, and Key Developmental Indicators (KPIs); assist the Lead Teacher in collecting assessment data for entry into COR Advantage.
Engage with parents and guardians through written, verbal, and social media platforms.
Consistently engage with children at their level throughout the daily routine.
Support the Lead Teacher in daily activities.
Meet children’s basic needs, including diapering and toileting, food preparation and service, and supporting personal hygiene practices.
Support children’s physical, cognitive, and social/emotional development.
Build and maintain healthy, supportive relationships with children, parents/guardians, and staff.
Ensure the safety of all children at all times.
Maintain compliance with and follow State of Michigan licensing guidelines.
Complete more than 24 hours of professional development per year.
Complete CPR/First Aid training as needed.
Consistently demonstrate behaviors aligned with Greater Midland’s Values.
