Afternoon Infant Assistant Teacher
About The Position
The Goddard School in Carmel/Westfield is hiring a caring, motivated Assistant Teacher for an infant classroom. The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate programs, managing the classroom, and maintaining a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment. The role supports children’s development and daily care while contributing to a welcoming, collaborative team. The schedule is approximately 33 hours per week: two full days from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and three half days from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The posting states there are no nights or weekends.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old, as required by the state.
- High school diploma required.
- Show empathy and compassion for young children.
- Work productively without supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in connection with handling children.
Nice To Haves
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Prepare classroom materials and maintain classroom safety and cleanliness.
- Supervise children and provide individualized support.
- Assist in communicating with parents about children’s progress and activities.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines.
- Support routine child care tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
