About The Position

Birch Tree Academy is a STEM-based preschool focused on academic development and discovery through science, building, and everyday exploration. The Assistant Teacher collaborates with the lead teacher and helps lead the class, supporting students’ learning, safety, development, and daily care. The position works with a class of 12 students and includes helping plan and teach curriculum-based activities, communicating with families, and providing weekly updates. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, and performed in person. The academy describes its culture as team-oriented, cooperative, and collaborative, and seeks dependable, adaptable employees. Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Ability to meet state and/or accreditation requirements for education and experience.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.
• Impeccable references and a proven track record of caring for and nurturing children.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• One year of childcare experience (preferred).
• Three years of relevant experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Help teach a class of 12 students.
• Work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
• Help plan and teach daily activities and lessons that correspond with the curriculum.
• Help promote multicultural education.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
• Help students learn classroom rules and procedures, personal responsibility, and respect for fellow students.
• Use appropriate behavior management and classroom discipline.
• Attend to children's basic needs, including feeding and dressing them.
• Supervise class projects, field trips, and visits by guest teachers.
• Establish consistent communication with parents and children.
• Write weekly class and individual student updates to parents.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and help lead the class.
