About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking passionate, life-long learners to shape students' hearts and minds. We are a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools. Our mission is to provide students with a high-quality, classical liberal arts education, aiming to develop them into good, intellectual, and moral individuals. The Assistant Teacher/Apprentice Teacher roles support lead teachers in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum. Apprentice Teachers function as a second teacher in the classroom, learning the craft of teaching through mentorship with a Master Teacher, without the full burden of planning, grading, and parent communication. Many Apprentice Teachers advance to lead teacher positions.

Requirements

• US work authorization is required, but we do accept OPT/CPT candidates.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
• May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required
• Some locations (e.g. Title I schools) may require assistant teachers to have an AA, 60 hours of college credit, or be able to pass a ParaPro proficiency exam before beginning work.
